Biography
Steven Smith is the Warren Distinguished Professor of Law; Co-Executive Director, Institute for Law & Religion; and Co-Executive Director, Institute for Law & Philosophy at the University of San Diego School of Law. Smith held distinguished positions at several institutions, including serving as the Robert and Marion Short Professor of Law at the University of Notre Dame Law School and the Byron R. White Professor of Law at the University of Colorado School of Law. He also taught at the University of Idaho and was a visiting professor at the University of Michigan and the University of Virginia. In 2002, he joined the University of San Diego School of Law, where he is currently the co-director of the Institute of Law and Religion. In 2021–22, he was honored as the Herzog Endowed Scholar.
