Biography
Faaris (Fares) Akremi joined the firm as an Associate in 2022. He represents labor unions, their members, associated benefit funds, and individuals in litigation in federal and state courts, arbitrations, and administrative proceedings.
Fares litigates cases at every stage, from before filing until final resolution. His practice includes conducting investigations, developing complaints, managing discovery, drafting dispositive motions, and briefing and arguing appeals. Fares’ substantive experience spans the Landrum-Griffin Act (LMRDA), the Racketeering and Corrupt Organizations Act (RICO), the National Labor Relations Act (NLRA), the Employee Retirement Income Security Act (ERISA), federal antidiscrimination laws, state labor and contract law, and the First and Fourteenth Amendments to the United States Constitution.
Before joining Bredhoff & Kaiser, Fares clerked for the Honorable Matthew F. Kennelly of the United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois, the Honorable Cornelia T.L. Pillard of the United States Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit, and the Honorable Ketanji Brown Jackson, then of the United States Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit. Fares also worked as an Associate at an international law firm in Washington, D.C.
Fares earned his JD from Stanford Law School where he was Editor-in-Chief of the Stanford Journal of Civil Rights & Civil Liberties, Notes Editor of the Stanford Law Review, and a board member of the Law School’s LGBTQ and African American affinity groups. Before law school, Fares earned his BA in Geography and Political Science, summa cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa, from the University of Missouri.
Fares is a member of the Bars of the District of Columbia and California. He is also admitted to practice before the Supreme Court of the United States; the United States Courts of Appeals for the D.C., Seventh, and Eighth Circuits; and the United States District Courts for the District of Columbia and the Eastern District of Michigan.
