People experiencing homelessness are on the frontlines of emergencies, from natural disasters and extreme heat to escalating crackdowns on encampments in the wake of the Grants Pass decision. People at risk of eviction and fighting for housing justice may be one emergency away from being unhoused themselves. This panel brings together perspectives on homelessness and housing justice from diverse vantage points—the Oakland Tenants Union, which works to expand tenant rights and protections, Destination: Home, working to end homelessness in the Silicon Valley, and the California Homeless Union, fighting with litigation and beyond for housing justice and the empowerment of the unhoused.
