Movement Lawyering: A JD in the Streets

Sponsor: National Lawyers’ Guild

The Stanford National Lawyers’ Guild (NLG) presents a practical panel on building a lifestyle focused on community advocacy. Your ability to be a movement lawyer, supporting activists, journalists, or other radical groups is not limited by your profession. Our panel, which includes both public sector and private sector attorneys, seeks to provide you with a practical toolset to engage with your local and global community.  These panelists will discuss how they have leveraged their organizations, firms, and professional knowledge to support local rallies and national movements. You will leave this panel with a variety of methods and techniques you can use to get involved in social movements–whether you’re at a private firm or a public service organization. We also will teach you about how you can begin your work as a movement lawyer today, here at SLS.
