Lessons from the Fight for Healthcare Justice

Sponsor: SLS Democratic Socialists

Long perceived by un-serious by the political establishment, visions of and pathways towards universal healthcare in the United States have gained renewed interest and momentum alongside recent, draconian challenges to the status quo. Single-payer and medicare-for-all legislation has emerged as an early litmus test for opposition-party presidential candidates — reflecting, in large part, the work of  organizers and activists. This panel brings together several speakers with experience organizing and mobilizing communities to fight for healthcare justice, both nationally and in California. Attendees will learn lessons about effective organizing, the current policy landscape, and possibilities moving forward.
