Grant Allen is a General Partner with SE Ventures is a Silicon Valley-based venture capital fund backed by Schneider Electric, a Fortune Global 500 corporation. With $565M under management, SE Ventures provides risk capital to big ideas and bold entrepreneurs who can benefit from Schneider’s deep domain expertise, R&D assets and global customer base. SE Ventures acts as an advisor, investor, and strategic accelerant for category-defining companies such as AutoGrid, Claroty, ElementAnalytics, Sense, Titan AES, and Synapticon spanning energy, mobility, cybersecurity, proptech, IoT, industrial automation/robotics and SaaS.

Prior to joining SE Ventures, Grant led ABB Technology Ventures (ATV), the venture capital arm of ABB (NYSE: ABB), a pioneering technology leader in power grids, electrification products, industrial automation and robotics and motion. Based out of ABB’s Silicon Valley headquarters, Grant oversees ABB’s direct and fund investment activities globally and serves on ABB’s Technology Leadership Team, reporting to the Group CTO.

With over a decade of experience driving venture investments and corporate innovation programs, his investments include Bonsai AI (acq. by Microsoft), Industrial Defender (acq. by Lockheed Martin), Validus (acq. by ABB), Persimmon Technologies (acq. by Sumitomo), Automata, CMR Surgical, Element Analytics, Enbala, Kespry, Soft Robotics, Trilliant and Vicarious.

Prior to ABB, Grant was with Core Capital Partners, a $400M venture fund focused on enterprise software; Microsoft in their Mobile & Embedded Devices division; Jingle Networks (First Round Capital-backed search startup acq. by Marchex for $63M); and several other start-ups. He is also an active angel investor (30+ personal investments including AltSpace VR, Dishcraft Robotics, DrillingInfo, Earnest, LivingSocial, Spotify, Zume Pizza) and a founding member of NextGen Venture Partners.

Listed on Global Corporate Venturing’s Powerlist 100 and a member of the World Economic Forum’s Technology Pioneer selection committee, Grant has been an invited speaker in a dozen countries and a featured writer for Bloomberg Businessweek. He holds degrees from Duke University’s Pratt School of Engineering and The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. He has also completed executive education at IMD Business School in Lausanne, Switzerland.
