Course Overview:

This course is designed to provide experienced counsel legal knowledge and practical expertise in technology and IP alternative dispute resolution. It covers pre-filing considerations, pleading, selecting arbitrators and challenges, jurisdiction, how best to present a IP technology case in arbitration and mediation, international arbitration, post-award enforcement and challenges, and ethics. Leading Stanford Law academics, experienced IP litigators, and IP/Tech ADR neutrals will join together to share their expertise. Practicum sessions will allow attendees to begin building skills during the course.

Advanced IP/Tech Mediation and Arbitration Course is a two-day comprehensive training in IP/Tech ADR advocacy skills designed for experienced counsel. This course features lecture and interactive segments. Two practical texts written by course faculty will be included with the course:

  • ADR Advocacy, Strategies, and Practices for Intellectual Property and Technology Cases, Second Edition (ABA Section of Intellectual Property Law)
  • Arbitrating Patent Disputes, A Practical Guide (ABA Section of Intellectual Property Law)

CLE:

  • 15 hours of California CLE will be offered, including 1 hour of legal ethics.
  • Upon satisfactory completion, attendees will receive a Stanford University Certificate of Completion.
