Aileen Casanave

General Counsel, African American Community Service Agency

Aileen F. Casanave was recently Deputy General Counsel (acting General Counsel) and Privacy Counsel for Jiff, Inc., an enterprise health benefits platform software services company, where she provided business and legal support to the CEO and CFO and managed the company’s legal, immigration, and regulatory compliance matters prior to the sale of the Jiff in March, 2018. Aileen has been General Counsel or acting GC for several start-ups and has held senior legal positions at many Silicon Valley companies such as TIBCO, Sun Microsystems and Lockheed Martin. Aileen is currently founder and CEO of Casanave Legal Services; an organization that provides pro-bono legal services to the many community service organizations of which she is a member.

Ms. Casanave is currently Vice President of the California Association of Black Lawyers, General Counsel to the African American Community Service Agency (AACSA), President of the Santa Clara County Black Lawyers Association (SCCBLA) and Board Member of the Association of Corporate Counsel – San Francisco Bay Area Chapter. She is on the Board of Governors of University of San Francisco School of Law and is an active board member with Santa Clara University School of Law’s Center for Social Justice & Public Service. In her 31 years of practicing law, Ms. Casanave has mentored more than 500 students, lawyers, executives, CEOs and people from all walks of life; in the United States and abroad.

Ms. Casanave was awarded the Lawyer of the Year award from the National Bar Association Women’s Lawyer’s Division, the Silicon Valley Women of Influence Award, the 2016 and 2018 California Association of Black Lawyer’s (CABL) President’s Award, the California Women Lawyers’ (CWL) Woman of Achievement Award, the excellence award from the Association of Corporate Counsel-San Francisco Bay area Chapter and will be receiving the 2018 Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated Service To Youth award. Ms. Casanave was inducted into the Silicon Valley Black Legends’s Hall of Fame in February, 2017.
