Assistant General Counsel, Microsoft

Dave Green is Assistant General Counsel to Microsoft and leads its Copyright and Trade Secret Practices team that defines and executes Microsoft’s global copyright and related IP strategy.

Dave’s team counsels Microsoft business divisions on complex IP matters impacting devices, cloud and online services, and artificial intelligence (AI) platforms. Dave’s team also leads global copyright policy advocacy and is actively involved in global copyright, amicus, legislative, and regulatory matters.

Dave speaks frequently on IP matters. He served as a past Trustee of the US Copyright Society, and co-chair of the ABA’s New Media & Innovation committee, and a committee member for the ABA’s Trade Secret’s committee. As Board Member for UW’s Program in IP Management and Business Development, Dave also lectures on IP and Business law courses. Previously, Dave served as Assistant General Counsel to Bill Gate’s privately held Corbis Corporation, and began his legal career as an Assistant Attorney General advising the University of Washington on IP and business matters.

Outside of Microsoft, Dave is a serial entrepreneur. His recent ventures include co-founding  McQueen Racing LLC with the iconic Steve McQueen family, initiating and executive producing several film and entertainment projects including “I am Steve McQueen” (Spike TV) and “The Man & Le Mans” (one of three documentaries selected for the prestigious Cannes Classic festival). More recently he co-founded Zero Point Venture LLC, a collaboration with the Albert Einstein Archives, where Dave co-developed and launched Max Einstein, a new adventure series written by the world’s best-selling author James Patterson, which debuts this October and is currently being adapted for film.
