Aileen Casanave
Vice President Legal, Alation
Aileen F. Casanave is Vice President and Deputy General Counsel for Alation Inc., where she manages the company’s legal, global commercial transactions, and regulatory compliance matters. She received her Bachelor of Science from Vassar College and her Juris Doctor from the University of San Francisco School of Law.
Aileen has been General Counsel or acting GC for several start-ups and has held senior legal positions at many Silicon Valley companies such as TIBCO, Sun Microsystems and Lockheed Martin. Aileen is currently founder and CEO of Casanave Legal Services, providing free pro-bono legal services to the many community service organizations such as the African American Community Service Agency (AACSA) and the Minority Business Consortium. She is currently President of the National Association of 100 Black Women-Silicon Valley Chapter, Vice President of the California Association of Black Lawyers, General Counsel to AACSA, Co-President of the Santa Clara County Black Lawyers Association and Board Member of the Association of Corporate Counsel – San Francisco Bay Area Chapter and a member of the Links, Incorporated.
Aileen is on the Board of Governors of University of San Francisco School of Law and a board member of Santa Clara Law’s Center for Social Justice & Public Service.
Aileen has received the Lawyer of the Year award from the National Bar Association Women’s Lawyer’s Division, the Silicon Valley Women of Influence Award, the California Association of Black Lawyer’s President’s Award (twice), the California Women Lawyers’ Woman of Achievement Award, and the excellence award from the Association of Corporate Counsel – San Francisco Bay area Chapter.
In 2017, Aileen was inducted into the Silicon Valley Black Legends’s Hall of Fame.
