David Pilson

Sr. Director – Compensation, Benefits, & Equity Compliance, eBay

David Pilson is a Senior Director in eBay’s Legal Department responsible for compensation, benefits, and equity compliance in the 34 countries where eBay operates. He also leads certain securities disclosure activities on a global basis (e.g., SEC CD&A, Japan 7-5 filings, EU Prospectus).

David joined eBay shortly before the announcement of the PayPal spin-off and co-led efforts to implement PayPal’s standalone equity, benefits, and compensation plans. He also led the implementation of eBay’s first dividend program in 2019.

Prior to eBay, David practiced at a multinational law firm where his primary practice area was executive compensation and employee benefits. David also advises on equity and employee benefits considerations in corporate mergers, acquisitions, and other transactions. David has significant experience with collective bargaining and multiemployer plan issues, including withdrawal liability.

David has served in the interim General Counsel capacity for two companies, advising on a variety of legal matters, including construction, litigation, employment, immigration, real estate, and intellectual property. Thus, he is an “issue spotter” and can identify issues in other areas that cross over into the benefits world. He intimately understand how compliance can foster growth in a company rather than being a hindrance.
