Group Chief Data Scientist and Global Head of R&D, AXA
Marcin Detyniecki is Group Chief Data Scientist and Global Head of R&D at AXA Group Operations. He leads innovation projects, in conjunction with AXA’s operational business entities, with a strong focus on Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning. Marcin also plays a key role in providing strong technical insights and leveraging the academic community as well as defining the research strategy for AXA.
Currently, his work focuses on humanizing artificial intelligence to foster technology adoption in a responsible manner. On Machine Learning Interpretability, his work aims at developing algorithms which are capable of whitening black boxes and at providing actionable tools to bring transparency to AI.
Marcin Detyniecki studied mathematics, physics and computer science at the Sorbonne Universityin Paris. In 2000 he obtained his Ph.D. in Artificial Intelligence from the same university. Between 2001 and 2014, he was a research scientist of the French National Center for Scientific Research (CNRS). He has been a researcher at the University of California at Berkeley and at Carnegie Mellon University (CMU) and visiting researcher at the University of Florence and at British Telecom Research labs.
Additionally, he is still today Professor at the Polish Academy of Science and Associate Researcher at the Computer Science Laboratory of Sorbonne University.
Prof. Detyniecki has over 150 publications in academic peer-reviewed journals and conference proceedings.
