Doug Luftman

Vice President, Deputy General Counsel and Chief Privacy Officer, DocuSign, Inc. 

Doug Luftman is a seasoned Silicon Valley senior legal executive, who currently is  Vice President, Deputy General Counsel and Chief Privacy Officer for DocuSign, Inc. Prior to DocuSign, Mr. Luftman’s 20-year career has included working at companies of all sizes and in varied industries including General Counsel of four Silicon Valley startups; Vice President of Innovation Services for NetApp, Inc., a Fortune 500  Silicon Valley storage networking and data management company; Vice President &  Chief Patent Counsel for CBS, a global media company; Chief Intellectual Property Counsel, Palm, Inc., a smartphone innovator; and Senior Intellectual Property Group  Counsel for Intel’s Communications Group. Prior to working in-house, Mr. Luftman was an attorney at Fenwick & West LLP, a Silicon Valley law firm, and also extended for former Chief Judge Randall Rader of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal  Circuit.

He has worked with the White House, Congress, federal judiciary and agencies and leading academic institutions, on matters relating to enhancing the national innovation agenda. Mr. Luftman has maintained a longstanding leadership role in  the technology community through his involvement with various business, legal,
educational and non-profit organizations, where he has been a strong proponent for supporting and improving commercial competitiveness in the U.S. through innovation and supporting science, technology, engineering and mathematics initiatives. He has been asked to speak at various prestigious industry and academic institutions has authored numerous articles and publications and has been quoted in various worldwide publications, on innovation and legal issues. His extensive professional accomplishments have been nationally recognized and honored by global organizations and publications including Fortune, Forbes, The Recorder,  Silicon Valley/San Jose Business Journal, San Francisco Business Times, Inside Counsel and Corporate Counsel as well as trade associations including the Intellectual  Property Owners Association and IEEE.
