Kerry Barker leads the Analysis & Research team on the Responsible Innovation team at Google, which is responsible for operationalizing Google’s AI Principles, ensuring that Google’s products have fair and ethical outcomes on individual users and the world. Among other things, her team provides socio-technical advice and conducts proactive algorithmic fairness testing to ensure Google’s technologies are not reflecting or perpetuating sociological or socioeconomic inequalities, in support of Google’s AI principles.
Prior to this role, Kerry was one of the founding members of the Google Policy Team in 2005, creating and driving enforcement of Google’s advertising and product policies for 4.5 years before moving to Legal to lead their advertising legal support team.
In between leaving and returning to Google in late 2018, Kerry spent time at Twitter leading its initial policy efforts, was Director of Compliance at IAC, Trust & Safety lead at ASKfm, and Director of Trust & Safety at Indiegogo.
