Michael J. Lawrence is Senior Competition Counsel at Google in Mountain View, California. He joined Google in 2011. Michael primarily focuses on representing the company in antitrust investigations and antitrust litigation. He has handled significant competition matters for Google in the U.S., Europe, Asia and Latin America. He also serves as the company’s lead lawyer for IP-antitrust counseling.
Before joining Google, Michael was a competition attorney at Intel Corporation for six years. At Intel, he represented the company in antitrust investigations and litigation, including State of New York v. Intel. Michael began his legal career as an associate at Latham & Watkins, where he focused on intellectual property, commercial, and antitrust litigation.
Michael is active in the ABA Antitrust Law Section. He served as an associate editor of Antitrust Magazine and as co-editor of Intellectual Property and Antitrust Handbook (2d Edition). He currently serves as a vice chair of the Media and Technology Committee.
Michael earned his B.A. from the University of California, Los Angeles and his J.D. from Georgetown University Law Center.
