Catherine Lego

Director – Cypress Semiconductor, IPG Photonics, and Lam Research Corp.

Cathy Lego is currently the chair of the compensation committee and is a member of the nominating and governance committee for Lam Research Corp., a $9 billion semiconductor equipment supplier. Previously she chaired its audit committee. She is also a member of the compensation committee and a member of the audit committee for IPG Photonics, a $1 billion laser components supplier. Recently she joined the board of Cypress Semiconductor and is a member of its audit committee. Previously she was the chair of the audit committee of SanDisk Corp. She was a member of its board from 1989 to 2002 and rejoined in 2004 and served until the company was merged with Western Digital in 2016. From 2013 until the company was sold in 2016 she was on the board and served on the nominating and governance and compensation committees of Fairchild Semiconductor. From 2011 until 2013 she also served on the board of Cosworth Group, a private U.K. company.

Over the past 30 years, Lego has served on the boards of a number of other public technology companies, namely Etec Corp., Uniphase Corp., WJ Communications, MicroLinear Corp., and Zitel Corp., as well as a dozen private companies associated with her venture investment activity. In the 1980s, she was a partner at Oak Investment Partners, and then in 1992, she started her own angel venture fund called Lego Ventures, LLC. In 1999 Lego raised The Photonics Fund with funds from JDS Uniphase and focused on the optoelectronics sector. The fund has since been fully distributed. Lego began her career at Coopers and Lybrand where she was a certified public accountant on the audit staff.

She is a member of several roundtables for audit and compensation committee chairs and is a member of the NACD Audit Committee Advisory Council.  In 2015 she was a recipient of the NACD Directors 100 award. She is also a member of the SVDX Leadership Council.

Cathy holds a BA in economics and biology from Williams College and an MS in accounting from the NYU Stern School of Business.
