Michael Nieset

Michael Nieset is a partner in Heidrick & Struggles’ New York office where he focuses on recruiting at the board, CEO, and C-suite level in technology and related industries, with a particular focus on general management, go-to-market, and product leadership roles.

Michael leads CEO and board succession within the global Technology Practice. He previously served as the global sector leader for the Software, Media, and Entertainment practices.

Since joining Heidrick & Struggles in 2002, Michael has led CEO and board director searches across the United States, Europe, and Asia, with sector experience across technology, information and business services, healthcare, and industrial technology. He has executed CEO, COO, board director, and other senior-level searches for companies such as Alliance Data Systems, Anaplan, Belkin, BMC, CA, Carbonite, Citrix Systems, Cruise Automation, Diebold-Nixdorf, Ellucian, Epicor, Experian, Intuit, LogMeIn, McAfee, McGraw-Hill, Moderna Therapeutics, OpenText, RealPage, Sabre, Salesforce.com, Skyline Champion, Sophos, Symantec, Twitter, Uber, Varian Medical Systems, and Verisk, among others.

Michael is a regular contributor to discussions on corporate governance, succession planning, and board diversity and has served as a guest lecturer at MIT’s Sloan School of Management and The Ohio State University’s Fisher College of Business. He led the design and development of a unique apprenticeship program in collaboration with Stanford University’s Rock Center for Corporate Governance. The program was designed to accelerate the development of diverse executives for broader operating roles and corporate board service.

Michael earned a bachelor’s degree in political science from John Carroll University.
