The Board’s Oversight of the Coming Chatbot and AI Revolution

The question confronting today’s modern business is not whether to use artificial intelligence (AI), but where and how to use it effectively. AI has the capacity to disrupt a broad range of industries, revolutionize business functions, and provide a competitive advantage to early adopters. To remain ahead of the curve, boards must understand how AI systems work and how they can be deployed responsibly across different business functions. Directors must also understand the myriad risks posed by this new technology, as well as the governance, accountability, and compliance frameworks that best allow them to oversee, monitor, and mitigate those risks. This session will explore the board’s role in overseeing AI. Panelists will offer practical advice to board members who are considering ways to integrate AI into their operations in a safe and responsible manner. They will explore the evolving landscape of AI governance, and address strategies to mitigate risks while harnessing the competitive advantage that AI offers. Finally, panelists will share best practices for navigating the evolving regulatory landscape in the U.S. and abroad.
