Robert Bartlett

Robert Bartlett is the I. Michael Heyman Professor of Law & Faculty Co-Director of the Berkeley Center for Law and Business. Bartlett is also a founder and program co-director of Startup@BerkeleyLaw —UC Berkeley’s primary platform for training entrepreneurs and investors on legal, financial and operational issues confronting venture-backed startup companies. Prior to his academic career, Bartlett worked as a corporate associate for Gunderson Dettmer, where his practice focused on startup and venture capital finance transactions.

Professor Bartlett has written widely in the area of law and finance, with a particular emphasis on venture capital finance, market structure, and securities regulation. Bartlett is also the academic representative for the General Counsel Advisory Board of the National Venture Capital Association (NVCA) Model Document Working Group, which is responsible for drafting and maintaining the NVCA’s model documents for venture capital financing transactions. At Berkeley, Bartlett teaches Corporate Finance, Securities Regulation, and Venture Capital Finance.

Bartlett earned both his B.A. and J.D. magna cum laude from Harvard.
