Biography
Danielle J. Forrest is a United States Circuit Judge of the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit based in Portland, Oregon. Before joining the federal bench in 2019, Judge Forrest was a state trial judge in Hillsboro, Oregon. During her time on the state bench, she served as the Chief Civil Judge and the Presiding Judge.
Born and raised in Oregon, Judge Forrest graduated summa cum laude from the University of Idaho College of Law and served on the Idaho Law Review. She clerked for Judge Paul J. Kelly, Jr. of the Tenth Circuit, Judge Michael W. Mosman of the U.S. District Court in Oregon, and Judge Diarmuid F. O’Scannlain of the Ninth Circuit. Judge Forrest practiced commercial litigation in Portland at Larkins Vacura Kayser, LLP, where she was a partner, and Stoel Rives LLP. She has also taught advanced civil procedure and litigation as an adjunct professor at Lewis & Clark Law School.
Judge Forrest has two adult children and enjoys traveling and kayaking.
