Afternoon Session III: Chronic Crisis: Environmental and Disability Justice

Disabled and environmental justice communities face emergencies all the time. Whether during an oil spill or a refinery flare or in the decades of pollution that follow them, communities impacted by environmental injustices can (and do) build strategies to resist, pressure, and evict polluters. Disabled people and allies likewise create movements for survival, whether under the conditions of the ongoing pandemic of COVID-19 or policies rooted in eugenics and discrimination. During this panel, speakers from community-based and grassroots organizations, and Stanford centers for Human Rights, will bring their perspectives on the chronic crises faced by communities fighting for environmental, pandemic, and disability justice.
