Alisa Bergman is Vice President and Chief Privacy Officer at Warner Bros. Entertainment Group of Companies, and is currently based in Burbank, California. She was appointed to this position in January 2010. Ms. Bergman has widespread experience helping companies to design and implement innovative solutions to solve their privacy and security challenges. She also carries out reviews of privacy policies to evaluate whether they have potential liability related to their privacy practices.
Prior to joining Warner Bros., Ms. Bergman was a partner with Sonnenschein’s Internet, Communications & Data Protection Group in Brussels, Belgium. For more than 10 years prior, she was based in Washington DC and represented clients with Venable LLP from 2006 to 2008 before Congress, federal agencies and state legislatures on privacy, security, and e-commerce issues, assisting with legislative drafting and development of regulations. Previously, she was an attorney with DLA Piper, also in Washington, DC, from 1998 to 2006.
Throughout her career, Ms. Bergman has provided compliance counseling on laws such as the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA), the CAN-SPAM Act, the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act (GLB) financial privacy regulations, the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA) and the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), in addition to a number of key state privacy and security laws.
Additionally, she has advised on all aspects of data protection, including international data management, e-marketing, and Customer Relationship Management strategy. She has conducted multinational data protection reviews to assist with worldwide privacy compliance and risk management. She has regularly advised on trans-border data flow strategies, including participation in the Department of Commerce’s Safe Harbor Program for compliance with the European Union’s Data Protection Directive.
