Dr. Liu Jiarui

Dr. Jiarui Liu is the founder and CEO of BCE.IO Inc., and a fellow at the Center for Internet and Society of Stanford Law School. He has served as the Director of Intellectual Property and Technology Law Programs at University of San Francisco School of Law. He has published over 40 articles in U.S., European and Chinese law reviews. Three of his articles have been selected by Thompson Routers (West) as the best IP articles of the year, and included in the suggested readings of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO). He regularly receives invitations from the U.S. Copyright Office, the USPTO, and foreign governments to speak at their events.

Dr. Liu has practiced law for Baker McKenzie and Jones Day. He has represented international labels such as Sony, Universal and Warner in in high-profile Internet copyright disputes in China, including those designated as “Top 10 Intellectual Property Cases of the Year” by the Supreme People’s Court. He has assisted Fortune 500 companies such as Disney, Microsoft and Nokia in negotiation and drafting of cross-border licensing agreements. He has advised international organizations such as IFPI, MPAA and FIFA on their digital IP and e-commerce strategies.

Dr. Liu obtained his J.S.D. degree at Stanford Law School, where he was a Stanford Program in International Legal Studies Fellow, a Microsoft Fellow in Intellectual Property and Antitrust, and an Olin Fellow in Law and Economics. He also served as a Senior Editor of the Stanford Technology Law Review. He has a Ph.D. degree in Jurisprudence from the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences.
