With a focus on generative AI, this session will define key concepts and provide an overview of foundational principles and technologies that power AI. This session will also discuss best practices for building transparent, explainable, and trustworthy AI systems.
Powering Business and Operations with AI and Data Science
It is increasingly evident that AI and Data Science will play a critical role in powering the future of operations. But how can you tell the noise apart from the substance, and how can you deploy AI and ML systems in practice so that they are reliable, scalable, and work well with humans in the loop? In this session, we will dive into some of the recent advancements in AI and Data Science, learn how they will impact operations, and examine some of the foundational principles around how to build organizations and company cultures that will maximally leverage the benefit of AI and Data. The goal of the session is to teach enduring tools and principles that will aid participants’ thinking in the long term, and not to engage in a broad review of the latest AI advancements and applications.
Risk Factors
This session will explore the legal, operational, and reputational risks associated with designing and deploying AI, and consider how those risks impact real-world decision-making. Instructors will address the potential pitfalls of AI algorithms, as well as the possibility of errors and hallucinations. Instructors will also discuss intellectual property, trade secret, privacy, and data protection concerns, and explore the potential societal consequences of developing and training foundation models. Finally, instructors will address recent litigation trends and legal challenges arising from the rapid development of this emerging technology.

This session will examine how different jurisdictions are trying to regulate AI, and explore best practices for navigating this evolving regulatory landscape.

In this session, participants will learn strategies to mitigate risks associated with AI design and implementation, and explore frameworks for accountability, governance, and compliance to ensure responsible and trustworthy AI practices within their organizations. Participants will engage in an interactive tabletop exercise to help them identify and think through strategies for mitigating AI-related risks.
